Invest in your health!  Massage therapy is a great way to find relief from you aches and pains, symptoms from injuries, and daily stresses.

 Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is considered to be among the oldest of all treatments used by man. Chinese records dating back three thousand years documented its use. The ancient Hindus, Persians, and Egyptians used forms of massage for some ailments, and Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of massage for joint and circulatory problems.  Today, massage is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and has proven beneficial to many chronic conditions such as low-back pain, arthritis, and bursitis. Massage helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living.

What Types of Massage Could I Have?
Our massage therapist is trained and certified in a number of massage therapy techniques, including Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Maternity Massage, and more.

What Will My Massage Be Like?

Your massage may include techniques such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, reflexology of the feet, and pregnancy massage.  Denise, who is a nationally certified massage therapist from the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), individually customizes the sessions to complement the chiropractic treatment plan and/or for general self-care.

How Long Will My Massage Last?
Oxboro Family Chiropractic offers 60 minute and 120 minute massages.  Contact our office to determine which treatment length is right for you.

How Will I Feel After My Massage?
Most patients feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and relief from chronic aches and pains after their massage.  Since massage therapy will help release muscle tension, promote faster healing of injured tissue, improve joint mobility, and reduce physical fatigue and stress, our patients often report feeling multiple areas of improvement after a treatment.

What Should I Do After My Massage?
Since toxins are released with deep tissue work, it is always recommended that you drink plenty of water following a massage.  You may also notice a slowed down period immediately following the massage, but this generally passes quickly, leaving you feeling refreshed physically and mentally to perform your normal activities.

Benefits of Prenatal Massage
Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

Some other potential benefits of prenatal massage include:

  • Hormone regulation

  • Reduction of swelling

  • Improvement of nerve pain

  • Reduced back pain

  • Reduce headaches

  • Improved circulation

  • Reduced edema

  • Better sleep
